CMI – Ahtisaari Peace Foundation established the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Fund in 2022, in order to ensure the life work and legacy of President Ahtisaari. The aim is to collect a capital of EUR 30 million over the next years.

The purpose of the Peace Fund is to secure the life’s work and legacy of President Martti Ahtisaari in peace mediation and to support the work of the CMI in conflict resolution and conflict prevention.

The Peace Fund will ensure that the CMI can guarantee its ability to operate independently and respond swiftly to the demands of variable crisis situations.

There are now more countries with war and other forms of violent conflicts than in the last 30 years. Also, more people are being killed in violent conflict, a ten-fold increase since 2005. The number of complex intra-state conflicts is rising at an alarming rate. In 2022, the number of people fleeing war, persecution and conflict exceeded 100 million.

CMI works in many of the world’s toughest environments and complex settings to develop innovative solutions to move peace processes forward through mediation and dialogue.

The Martti Ahtisaari Peace Fund will be collected from state and private donors, and will be invested with a reasonable return expectation. We invite you to make peace your business.
