Published on Wednesday, 15th of April 2015

On 5-6 March, CMI organised the latest in a series of regularly occurring meetings of its high-level expert dialogue group on the Transdniestrian settlement. The group includes former participants in official negotiations, advisors to the top leadership in Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as civil society experts.

The experts exchanged views and analysis on the current state of play in the Transdniestrian settlement process. They also discussed the impact and implications of the Ukrainian crisis for the wider region in political, economic and social spheres. The group agreed on a joint action plan for 2015 with regards to the work of its political, economic and social subgroups.

Joint analytical materials and consensus policy recommendations will continue to be developed by the experts throughout the year. These will be presented regularly to the participants of the 5+2 official negotiation process and other official stakeholders. The group will also continue its cooperation with the expert communities in Brussels, Moscow, Berlin, Kyiv and Washington. It also plans to expand its outreach to the broader expert communities in Chisinau and Tiraspol.

This activity was implemented with funding support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
