Peace is key to sustainable development: ”We at CMI strongly believe that peace mediation must be about building more just societies”
It has become increasingly clear that there is no sustainable development without peace. The impacts of Covid-19 and other challenges such as the climate change will make fragile states even more fragile and their governance even weaker, affecting the ability of these countries to deal with both new and old tensions. “Peace mediation can pave the way for an inclusive political system, where differences can be solved without resorting to violence”, says Head of our Sub-Saharan Africa team Tiina Kukkamaa-Bah in our video. Peace and sustainable development is first of the 3 themes we will be discussing during our 20th anniversary year.
