The Finnish way in peacemaking

Published on Tuesday, 11th of June 2019

This is CMI’s Peace Talks, our new podcast. In the first episode, we discuss how the Finnish way in peacemaking can be effective in these turbulent times.

The rise of great power politics and the increasingly complex nature of conflicts pose many challenges to peacemakers. Some of the old ways of working are no longer working.

In this episode of CMI’s Peace Talks, we ask whether the Finnish way in peacemaking could respond to some of the challenges. How can the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and independent organisations complement each other? Is there something about Finnishness that brings results?

In CMI’s Peace Talks we look at the world through the lenses of peacemaking. We have conversations with both our own and other top experts on what it takes to build lasting peace in this unstable world situation. In the wise words of our founder, Nobel Peace Laureate Martti Ahtisaari, we believe that all conflicts can be resolved. This podcast is about how to do it.
