Areas of expertise: Mediation practice, policy analysis, digital peacemaking, non-traditional conflict, role of armed non-state actors.

Biography: Dr Ed Marques is the Head of CMI’s Eurasia team and leads CMI’s programme activities in the region.

Marques joined CMI in 2017 and previously worked as a Senior Manager in the Middle East and North Africa Programme where he oversaw a regional and a national dialogue process. Most recently he served as an Advisor to CMI’s CEO Dr Janne Taalas.

Prior to joining CMI, Marques served in various leadership positions related to peacebuilding, diplomacy and development. He holds a PhD in Politics and International Studies from SOAS, looking at how rebel groups engage with foreign diplomats.
