Funding

CMI is a non-profit organisation funded from public and private sources. The organisation’s total income in 2024 was 17.1 million euros.

CMI’s biggest funder in 2024 was the European Union, accounting for 38% of total funding. Other key funders include the Government of Finland with 36% and Sweden with 9% of total funding. Funding from other governments was 12% of total funding.

A broad funding base ensures CMI’s independence, impartiality and organisational resilience. Corporate governance and financial monitoring at CMI are ethically sound, rigorous, and fully transparent. In the coming years, CMI expects to continue on the moderate growth trajectory of the past years.

Private Funders

The total amount of private funding is of vital importance for our work to ensure that we can react rapidly to emerging conflicts and work autonomously. CMI’s private fundraising strategy in Finland is based on three pillars: private individuals, corporate partnerships, and foundations.

Individuals

CMI accepts donations from individuals and has a circle of private donors who are committed to supporting CMI’s peacebuilding work by donating to us annually. You can donate to us e.g. via an online payment form here.

For more information, please contact: Head, Communications and Fundraising Kaisa Raitio, kaisa.raitio@cmi.fi.

Corporate partners and foundations

CMI’s private fundraising efforts rely on cultivating partnerships with companies that strategically support our work. We also continually and systematically seek out Finnish and international partners that could help to finance our work.
