Press release
Konecranes has made a significant donation to the Peace Fund of CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation. There are currently more conflicts in the world than at any time since World War II, and the demand for CMI’s work has increased significantly in recent years. The Peace Fund is a key tool for CMI in building sustainable peace.
”Konecranes makes donations to advance science, to protect environment and for humanitarian causes. In the current unstable world, we see peace mediation and conflict resolution as particularly important and meaningful, and therefore CMI, continuing the legacy of president Ahtisaari, was chosen as a beneficiary”, says Minna Aila, Konecranes EVP, Corporate Affairs & Brand.
The returns from the Peace Fund enable CMI to respond more swiftly to requests for assistance and support local solutions for as long as the parties to a conflict require.
“Through the Peace Fund, we can, ensure the continuity and independence of CMI’s work, as well as its long-term commitment to peace processes,” says Janne Taalas, CEO of CMI.
Janne Taalas, CEO of CMI, thanks Konecranes for its significant support. “Building peace requires collective efforts, and support like this is invaluable in this work. CMI’s efforts are guided by Ahtisaari’s vision that all conflicts can be resolved. Konecranes’ donation helps us strive together toward sustainable peace,” Taalas states.
