Tampere Peace Day invites peace researchers and peacebuilding professionals to share the newest research and practical knowledge on peacemaking.

Jointly organised by CMI and Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI), the event aims to act as a shared platform to tackle the complex challenges facing peacemakers today. If the space for peacebuilding has narrowed, how can mediators adapt to the changing conditions?

The conference will take place on 27 November from 10:15 to 17 EET at Tampere University. Janne Taalas, CMI’s Chief Executive Officer, will join Tampere University President Keijo Hämäläinen, and TAPRI’s Research Director Marko Lehti for opening remarks.

A panel discussion addresses the challenges to the traditional approaches to peacemaking amid shifting dynamics and complex global challenges.

Three breakout sessions discuss feminist approaches to peacebuilding, inclusive peacemaking in interstate conflict and the green transition’s implications for peace. The sessions are followed by a panel on adapting peacemaking to diverse global realities.

The event concludes with remarks by Hanna Klinge, Deputy CEO of CMI, Marko Lehti and Katja Ahlfors, Director of the Centre for Peace Mediation, and a reception hosted by the City of Tampere at the Old City Hall.
