CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is making a collection of people’s memories of President Martti Ahtisaari. A virtual statue of Ahtisaari will be made from the writings and projected on the video wall of the Musiikkitalo in Helsinki from 17 October 2023.

Thanks to the 3D memorial, people’s many moments and encounters with Martti Ahtisaari will become vivid on Finland’s largest video wall. CMI is creating the virtual statue in cooperation with the advertising agency TBWA\Helsinki, the digital studio Great Apes, and the outdoor advertising company Clear Channel.

The virtual statue, made up of people’s memories of Ahtisaari, will be visible on the video wall from different angles, and visitors will be able to view Ahtisaari sculpted in people’s writings from near and far. The written memories will also be updated as new ones emerge, so the statue’s texts will change over a period of a couple of weeks.

The virtual statue will be displayed on the Musiikkitalo’s video wall every day until Martti Ahtisaari’s state funeral. CMI encourages people to actively share their memories at cmi.fi/muistamarttia.

A video of the statue can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/OV-cRQUPqGI.
