CMI held a series of consultations in Kyiv last week with Ukrainian official and civil society representatives, including subgroup negotiators in the Trilateral Contact Group.

Ukrainian interlocutors were briefed on the experience of lessons learnt from other international peace processes, in particular the experience of the Transdniestrian settlement process. The briefings were provided by a high level international expert who was involved as senior negotiator in this peace process.

These events were organised as part of an ongoing series of peer exchange opportunities offered by CMI to stakeholders involved in the peace process in Ukraine. In previous instances, experiences and lessons were shared from the peace process in Aceh, Indonesia and by international experts from Canada, Finland, the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom, including Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The consultations held on 22 February were organised with funding support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
