Ukraine: Events on decentralisation held in Kyiv

Published on Friday, 24th of April 2015

Events on decentralisation were conducted with executive authorities, civil society experts and the high-level Ukrainian dialogue group in Kyiv on 15-16 April 2015.

In continuation of our work in Ukraine, we organised another high-level dialogue meeting for Ukrainian political actors and intellectual leaders in Kyiv. We also organized a capacity building seminar for executive and legislative authorities.

Both events were focused on the subject of decentralization in the midst of conflict and benefited from the international expertise of high-level resource person, professor John Packer.

CMI’s Ukrainian high-level dialogue group met on 15 April 2015 in Kyiv.

On 16 April 2015 we conducted a capacity-building seminar for representatives of Ukrainian executive agencies and civil society experts. The representatives are working on the issue of decentralization reform in Ukraine. The goal of the seminar was to inform them about the experience of other countries in implementing decentralization in the midst of violent conflict.

We aimed to encourage a shared awareness of these experiences and to promote constructive discussion about the topic among Ukraine’s policy-makers, intellectuals and civil society leaders. The seminar was held under Chatham House Rule.

This event was organised in partnership with the Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research and with the Civil Society Institute with funding support from the British Embassy in Kyiv, UK Conflict Pool Peacebuilding projects in Ukraine 2014-2015.
