CMI and President Ahtisaari congratulate the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize recipients

CMI and its Chairman of the Board, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Martti Ahtisaari, congratulate Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzay for being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize this year. Both recipients have determinedly fought to improve the situation and the rights of children and young people, which is important for the peaceful development of nations. If children’s rights are not respected during conflicts, the cycles of violence tend to continue among future generations.

President Ahtisaari said: “I warmly congratulate both recipients for this well-deserved award. I hope that this helps to promote the full implementation of children’s rights everywhere in the world.”

CMI continues on its part to support sustainable peace by working to prevent and resolve violent conflicts in some of the most challenging areas of the world.
