The CMI High-level Expert dialogue group convened in Chisinau on September 24 and 25

On September 24, CMI convened in Chisinau one of the periodic meetings of the High-level dialogue group on the Transdniestrian Settlement. The group includes former participants in official negotiations, advisors to the senior leadership in Chisinau and Tiraspol, as well as civil society experts.

The experts exchanged views from Chisinau, Tiraspol, Kyiv and Brussels on current state of play regarding the Transniestrian settlement process and its implications for the wider region on political, economic and social issues.

On September 25, the political experts of the dialogue group presented a set of recommendations for the OSCE enhanced support to the settlement process to the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Michael Scanlan.

The joint analytical material and recommendations developed by the experts will be presented by the end of the year to representatives of the international community and participants in the official negotiation process from both banks of the Nistru/Dniester.

These meetings were conducted as part of CMI’s ongoing efforts to provide a trusted dialogue platform for all the relevant sides of the Transdniestrian settlement process. The long term aim of this engagement is to support joint analysis on current events, trends and forecasts related to the Transdniestrian settlement process, facilitate further relationship building, and support the development of joint recommendations for the peace process.
